Rohit Sharma ruled out of England series; vijay named as replacement
India batsman Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the remainder of the ODI series and the lone T20I against England after sustaining a fractured middle finger in the second ODI in Cardiff.
"Rohit Sharma has sustained a fracture on the middle finger of his right hand, and has been ruled out of the ongoing ODI and T20 international series against England, as a result," a BCCI Press release said. "The All-India senior selection committee has picked Murali Vijay as his replacement."
The Indian selectors named Murali Vijay as the replacement, Vijay though, has struggled to make his mark in the abridged version of the game. In the 14 games he has played for his country, vijay has amassed only 253 runs at 19.46. He hasn't yet notched up a fifty in those 14 games.
