Reliance Jio will reportedly introduce a new feature called ‘Locate My Device’, which will allow users locate their devices with the help of GPS

According to a report, Jio subscribers can make use of this feature by logging into the Jio’s official website.

"Currently, this feature appears to have not been taken live but once it goes live, users can track their smartphones from the website itself," the report said.

The ‘Locate My Device’ feature will provide information of smartphone’s location history. Also, users will also be able to keep a track of location in a list view which provides more detailed information including the date and time.

The telco's JioSecurity app also allows its users to remotely control the device in case the smartphone is stolen. With the help of this app, users can wipe data or lock the smartphone remotely.

Reliance Jio is offering free 4G internet and voice calling to its users till March 31, 2017. Analysts and industry experts said that Jio could offer free services even beyond March 31 next year, with the country’s top three phone companies unleashing an all-out price war against the Mukesh Ambani-owned company with similar plans that bundle free voice calls and data.

“Jio may decide to extend freebies by a couple of months beyond March 2017 if incumbent telcos get more aggressive on 4G pricing,” Rajiv Sharma, telecom analyst at brokerage HSBC, said in a note seen by ET.
