Reliance Jio users can now send money instantly from their JioChat window by integrating their JioMoney wallet with the chat, the telco displayed through a tweet posted on Monday.

The users in the midst of their conversation on the chat window can choose to tap on a rupee icon in the app which will prompt them to enter the amount they want to transfer to the other person.

The entered amount would immediately be deducted from their JioMoney wallet balance and the confirmation message will be received in the chat window itself as part of a chat bubble.

Mukesh Ambani-driven Reliance Jio tweeted a short clip from its official handle @reliancejio which explained how the new feature can be used by Jio users to transfer money to peers.

The telco has made a witty GIF to explain to its users about the new feature. The feature seems to be one of its kind for now since the functionality is not available on the digital content apps driven by telcos or OTT apps such as Whatsapp.

The company has also put up a video from its official YouTube account ‘Jio’ where it has explained how users can link or unlink their JioChat app with JioMoney.

Jio is trying to offer the most out of its digital content services by interlinking two apps and introducing unique features that could soon be trending and adopted by others. However, it could soon be facing competition from digital content apps that were recently launched by
Idea Cellular .

Idea is entering bill payment, music streaming, online games, cloud storage, banking, instant messaging and video streaming services in 2017 where a host of unique features can be expected from the telco to counter Jio’s already existing apps.

Also, JioMoney may soon have a new competitor as South Korean tech giant Samsung is planning to launch its mobile payment wallet ‘Samsung Pay ’ in India in the first half of 2017.

Samsung Pay supports MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) which allows users to send a magnetic signal from smartphone to the payment terminal's card reader. This feature may help the app get initial traction that it needs to counter other established wallet apps in India.
