Reliance Jio testing Live TV (IPTV) service on Jio STB

But Jio Fiber already has been providing live tv channels via its Jio TV + service, isn't this same as IPTV? Even on DreamDTH forum we have articles/threads dating back to 2019/ 2020 when Jio Fiber started testing these IPTV services

I understand what's happening. Jio set top box has a LiveTV Icon. It basically redirects you to live tv from cable operater. I feel he got confused when he saw live channels. He felt it's coming from jio but it's just his cable feed

There's no way jio can put some cable tv feed in here through some way. It's illegal isn't it?

No its app tv, not ip tv as channels/digital feed from respective apps, so we can knows some channels show one movie for satellite tv/ip tv and other movie for digital feed, but Live tv app in Jio fiber is working some users, so they can clarify what it is? ip tv or app tv.

I had seen pictures of Star Movies Channel been posted while discussing on this issue and this channel is not available from Disney-Star on their OTT App so it cannot be App based channel.....it is definitely regular live tv feed mentioned by @Shantanu bro

The logo of Live tv app on his Stb is also different from current logo. Which means he has updated version of the Live tv App.

I think Jio wants to counter English movies streaming in Netflix and Amazon prime with STAR movies, Movies Now, MNX, Sony Pix etc. with IP TV for just Rs.50 approx. per month.

I think you guys are thinking it too much. I feel pretty confident that the original Twitter user got confused it with something else and was expecting that it's provided from jio.

He has mentioned the steps he took in his reply and it's no rocket science or something techie. Someone who has cable tv and jiofibre can confirm the issue

There is Disney International HD on channel list. Jio doesn't carry any Disney's channel since 2016. Also there is channel pricing on UI.

Exactly it's cable tv UI and jio stb only redirects to cable tv channels.

Live TV feature of the STB won't work unless there's a cable input from the "Cable In" port. This must surely be from Hathway or Fastway Cable TV services or any other cable tv service owned by Reliance.
