Reliance Jio is gearing up to launch its 4G services in India, and in its earnings briefing, the company said that it is in a ‘high state of readiness’. While the exact date of launch has not been announced yet, the company’s debut is widely expected to change the current industry. BGR India has got its hands on a Jio SIM card that reveals prepaid tariffs, and they are eight times cheaper than the likes of
Vodafone and Airtel .

Jio’s prepaid rates include 2p per second for local and national calls, Re 1 per SMS (local and national), Re 5 per international SMS, and 5p per second for video calls. But what really catches the eye is Jio’s data rate, wherein users are charged 0.5p per 10KB. To put that into perspective, Airtel and Vodafone both charge users 4p per 10KB. For the sake of clarity, these are the standard data rates when the user hasn’t subscribed to any data plan or has exhausted the data limit in their plan.

In essence, if your data pack for a month is up, you can continue consuming data as even 1GB will cost you Rs 500. In comparison, if you were to consume 1GB of additional data on Vodafone or Airtel, you will end up paying Rs 4,000.

The rates you see on the SIM card are however just standard plans, and Jio will surely announce specific tariff plans just like other carriers. One of the plans that is being rumored offers free local and STD calls to users when they buy data packs. This is said to be among the highlight plans that will be rolled out on the day of Reliance Jio launch.

While details are scarce, Reliance Jio is widely
expected to launch its 4G services on August 15 . The company has pan-India unified license and spectrums in 2300MHz, 1800Mhz and 850MHz. It has also signed trading and sharing pacts with RCom.

gud.. tight slap to money sucking company like airtel. !!

Hope this country is free of airtel :dodgy

Its only the "Pay as you use" plan when consumer do not have any data pack. Even though comparatively cheaper than others, it still costs ₹500 for 1gb which is useless. Airtel or others not going to get hurt really by this..

Infact, its better if "pay as you go" is priced high, which will prompt customer to buy data packs. Otherwise we will end up paying a lot more.

Can jio price their 1GB -28 days pack for ₹30-₹35??. Only then we can say its 8 times cheaper.

This is nothing but a marketing gimmick. When people see "8 times cheaper plan" everyone tend to buy Jio.
