Jio deliver 4G SIM cards, send executive to housing complex for customer acquisition
Long gone are the days when you had to stand in long queues to get hold of Reliance Jio SIM as the new-entrant is reportedly working on a pilot program to offer doorstep delivery of SIMs. On receiving an invite to schedule a Jio SIM delivery, people will be able to get the SIM delivered at their home at a time of their convenience.
The company is launching the program in a phase manner where presently the program is in beta. It is being rolled out in some of the major cities including Delhi NCR , Mumbai,
Bangalore , Hyderabad , Chennai , Kolkata ,
Ahmedabad , Pune, Jaipur and Chandigarh.
Similarly, the Mukesh Ambani-owned telco is offering the service to offices and housing complex, where a group of people can schedule a meeting with a Jio representative for setting up a Jio desk at their office/housing complex. Through the desk, individuals can get a Jio SIM instantly by using their Aadhar card. The process can be initiated through Jio’s website or by giving a missed mobile call to 1-800-200-200-9.The service is cost free for now.
The programs are currently in the experimental stage and their commercial execution may vary.
Jio may also be exploring other channels to get its SIM home-delivered as it was earlier in talks with document management company SoftAge for free door-step delivery of SIMs through e-KYC activation, as reported by ET Telecom earlier.
SoftAge through its e-commerce platform 10Digi had tied up with leading telcos including Idea Cellular, Vodafone and Tata to offer free doorstep delivery of SIMs.
