Reliance Jio Infocomm's 4G SIM
starter kit reveals the tariff rates
and data packs proposed for 4G
subscribers.

Jio's basic tariff would include a
local or STD call at 2 paise/
second, Rs 1/SMS and Rs 5 for
international text message while
data pricing include 0.5
paise/10KB data and 5 paise/sec

report.

Mukesh Ambani, during FICCI
Frames 2016, said, "We plan to
make Reliance Jio affordable and
accessible in all parts of the
country." The tariff plan, revealed
by the company seems to be
lowest among the data offerings by
other players in the industry
currently.

Jio has also updated its mobile
wallet, Jio Money which can now
recharge mobile numbers.

According to the app, Jio Mi-Fi
devices are bundled with 40GB
data for 90 days and 200GB pack
is also available for network test
which may only be available for

Reliance Jio 4G plans tariff plan revealed (snaps)

Reliance Jio could be all set to commercially launch its 4G services soon. While its 4G enabled SIM cards have already been shipped across Reliance Digital stores, it’s not yet available for customers as the retailers await for the final nod to start selling. But that hasn’t stopped leaks around its launch plans, which continue unchecked. The latest leak reveals the basic tariff plans Reliance Jio could offer, which could create problems for its rivals.

The basic tariff of Reliance Jio 4G would include local and STD calls at 2p per second, Re 1 per SMS and international texts at Rs 5. Mobile data would be priced at 0.5p per 10KB, which corresponds to Rs 5/MB, whereas video calls will cost 5p per second. A family and friends basic and gold plan is also available costing Rs 37 and Rs 38, respectively. The tariff plans are pretty cheap compared to existing operators, which could surely give Reliance Jio an advantage.

Reliance Jio has also got RBI license for Jio Mobile digital wallet for mobile and utility bill payments and more. The app has recently been updated and it shows tariff plans and recharges. The Jio Mi-Fi 4G enabled devices come bundled with 40GB of data with validity of 90 days and a 200GB data pack is also available for network test, the app reveals. However, it is only available for internal testing purposes.

From what we know so far, Reliance Jio won’t be selling standalone 4G SIM cards and customers will need to buy VoLTE enabled LYF-branded smartphones to get the Reliance Jio 4G connection. The company has already launched these smartphones and available to purchase from Reliance Digital stores.

Besides the fast network, the Reliance Jio has also started rolling out digital services that would help the company differentiate itself from other service providers. These services include cloud storage, on-demand music and video streaming and more. Reliance Digital has also launched LYF-branded 4K LED smart TVs running on Android KitKat OS. Earlier reports state that Reliance Jio would be offering a host of content-based Live TV and video-on-demand services to take on DTH operators.

Reliance Jio had also been offering free public Wi-Fi hotspots at ICC World Cup T20 stadiums. We’ve tested the service at Wankhede stadium, and both upload and download speeds were mind blowing.
