Reliance Digital has launched a new smartphone under its LYF series, called the LYF Water 8. The smartphone is priced at Rs 10,999. Like other LYF smartphones, the LYF Water 8 also comes with 4G with VoLTE support. The smartphone is available via Reliance Digital stores across the country.
Reliance Digital LYF Water 8 specifications
The smartphone comes with 5-inch AMOLED HD display with 294ppi. It is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor along with 3GB of RAM. Also on offer is 16GB of onboard storage, which can be further expanded to 64GB via microSD card.
The LYF Water 8 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Both the rear and the front cameras come with LED flash.
The smartphone is powered by a 2,600mAh battery, which the company claims is good enough to offer up to 10 hours of talktime on 4G and 320 hours of standby time. On the connectivity front, the smartphone supports VoLTE, LTE, Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 and GPS. The LYF Water 8 runs Android Lollipop 5.1.1 out-of-the-box.
While the LYF Flame series is targeted at the sub-Rs 5,000 segment, the LYF Water series smartphones are priced between Rs 7,500 and Rs 15,000. The 4G with VoLTE feature gives the LYF Flame series an advantage over other entry-level 4G smartphones. But devices like the LYF Water 8 face a bit of competition as there are already a few VoLTE-ready smartphones such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and LeEco Le 2 in the same price range.
That said, Reliance Jio hasn’t yet started rolling out its 4G SIMs for all the non-LYF branded smartphones, and there is no MNP service. Right now, the preview offer is available for select Samsung smartphones. So if you want to experience the Reliance Jio 4G service right away, you will need to get these LYF handsets or you can simply wait for a few months for Jio’s full-fledged 4G roll out.
