The hometown of Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is all set to become the country's 16th Test venue, barring last-minute change of plans by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

An official announcement to the effect is likely very soon with the BCCI's venue inspection committee arriving in the city on February 25 for final inspection of the International Stadium Complex here.

The stadium in managed by the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA).

According to highly-placed sources in the BCCI, the committee is likely to endorse the venue fit for hosting Test matches here on the basis of its experience in hosting one-day International and Indian Premier League matches.

Crowd response, experience of the players and cricket administrators have also been favourable.

The JSCA is also hopeful of a positive response from the BCCI inspection committee.

"We are more than sure of earning the status considering out track record in hosting ODI and IPL matches successfully here. Hosting Test matches here would go a long way in promotion of the sports in the region," said Amitabh Choudhary, president, JSCA.

BCCI sources said that former international cricketers like David Boon, Mathew Haden, Wasim Akram, Ramiz Raja and Sunil Gavaskar have praised the 'world-class cricketing facilities available at the stadium' including the dressing room, indoor practice facility coupled with favourable climatic conditions here.
