In an aggressive bidding process, the
Sanjeev Gupta-led 'New Rising'
consortium bid -16 crore INR for the
Pune franchise while Keshav Bansal's
Intex Mobiles picked up the Rajkot side
for a value of -10 crore. BCCI had set a
base price of 40 crore for the reverse
bidding exercise with prospective
buyers bidding for a share of the
board's central revenue pool. Here are
all the details.
Niranjan Shah, honorary secretary of
Saurashtra Cricket Association, says,
"Very happy that Rajkot will be a
centre. It is a 100% profitable venture.
We had good revenue from the ODI
played here."
"Intex as a brand has been associated
with cricket for a very long time,"
owner Keshav Bansal said after
making the winning bid. "It was
exciting process. We were the most
aggressive bidders. We are pucca
Hindustani (true Indians). Well give
importance to Indian players first. Read more @: IPL team bidding Live Updates - Cricbuzz

Sanjiv Goenka and Intex Group get Pune and
Rajkot IPL teams

Pune and Rajkot are the two new IPL teams,
replacing Chennai and Jaipur.

While Sanjiv Goenka has bought the Pune franchise, Intex
has got the Rajkot team. Goenka will pay Rs 16 crore (Rs
160 million) and Intex Rs 10 crore (Rs 100 million).
The two new IPL teams will play in 2016 and 2017
editions of the cash-rich T20 league.

The BCCI had last month released an invitation to tender
(ITT) for the right to operate and manage the two
proposed new franchises for a period of two years. The
bids were necessitated following the suspension of
Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals by the Lodha
Committee.

A total of 21 entities had bought the IPL tender
documents, as per media reports.

The rights on offer included the right to operate and
manage the two franchises during the 2016 and 2017
seasons but not thereafter, to exploit the Team Rights, to
stage its home League Matches at the Stadium which
shall be provided to the Franchise by BCCI (as detailed in
the ITT and Franchise Agreement) and a host of other
rights.
