Harbhajan Singh has been included in
India's ODI squad after ace spinner
Ravichandran Ashwin suffered a left
side strain during the first match of
the series against South Africa in
Kanpur on Sunday. ( Blog | Scorecard)
"R. Ashwin sustained a left side
strain injury during the first Paytm
ODI against South Africa at Green
Park, Kanpur on 11th October 2015,"
the BCCI said in a statement.
Ashwin dived to stop a drive from
centurion AB de Villiers in the 32nd
over. But he was seen holding his left
side when he started walking back to
his run-up. He did not complete his
fourth over and left the field. He
returned in the 43rd over but
managed only one more over after
that. He bowled only 4.4 overs in the
match, picking up one wicket for 14
runs.
"After making a detailed assessment
of the injury, the BCCI medical team
will confirm the time frame required
for Ashwin to fully recover from the
injury," the BCCI release said.
