Film Aarakshan has been getting into one or the other controversies from the very first day of its trailer release. The film has gathered a lot of opposition, the last one being Mayawati Government putting a ban on the release of the film in Uttar Pradesh for two months. Following the foot steps of the UP government, Punjab government has also imposed a ban on the screening of Aarakshan in Punjab.

While there are not much details given out, it is known that the ban will be imposed until the state screening committee previews the film Aarakshan. The film has gathered a lot of opposition in the political sphere for people alleging that the film is anti-dalit and goes against the reservation quota in the Constitution.

Aarakshan, a Prakash Jha film stars actors Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Prateik Babbar and Manoj Bajpayee in the leading roles. The film is slated for this coming Friday release, 12th august 2011.
