Prisma has had a few ups and downs lately but it’s back on the bandwagon with a new update. The new update introduces two new features of cropping and adjusting the filter level on your photos. The update is available both on Android and iOS. More importantly though, the update has made the app faster than it used to before. Read on to find out our take on Prisma’s latest update.
One of the new features is the ability to crop a photo. The thing to note here is that the cropping feature only works when you upload an existing photo from your smartphone’s gallery. So when you select a photo the screen immediately pops up with the cropping option and you can also rotate the photo. After you’re done with that, the app then moves to the original screen wherein you choose the filters and go on the usual way.
The filter blending option lets you adjust the level of the filter which is basically like adjusting the brightness. You have to zoom in and out of the photo using your fingers to adjust the filter level. This solves the problem of choosing a filter that you like and reducing the contrast or brightness according to your likeness.
Prisma for iOS has another feature which Android does not and that is the option to split your photo. You can do so in three ways – horizontal, diagonal and vertical. Instagram and Facebook both have preloaded options to crop photos before uploading so the crop option on Prisma doesn’t receive much praise from our side. And plus you can always crop and rotate photos straight from your smartphone. The feature to adjust the filter however is a talking point because it’s always great to have flexibility in editing and adjusting photos for you.
Prisma seems to be catching on the race and the app sure has a lot of pressure considering its quick and massive popularity. The app is already topping the app charts in certain countries, plus third-party developers have also come out with competitive apps like Artisto. Prisma has already said it plans to add its artsy feature to videos, but there is no timeline yet.
