Petrol price in the state of Maharashtra will increase by rupees 3 beginning from Saturday as VAT rate is hiked by the state government. Now with this implementation, one has to shell out rupees 3 extra for a litre of petrol. A litre of petrol will now cost Rs 77.45, this was confirmed by the Petrol dealers association.

As per Times of India , the Maharashtra government increase the VAT on a litre from Friday midnight, however, Diesel price was set to remain stable as there was no rise on VAT for it. This amounts to 21 per cent plus rupees 2 for the remaining state and 24 per cent plus rupees 2 for Mumbai zone.
