Penguin India, one of the largest publishing houses in the country, has come up with a smartphone app that enables users to read books published by Penguin. Apart from reading books, one can go through reviews and news related to the latest books, and, download books as well. The app is presently available for iOS and Nokia Symbian devices.
Penguin's mobile app also allows users to connect and interact with other book lovers with the “Stay Connect” feature. The feature redirects users to the Penguin India, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter pages. The Stay Connect feature enables users to suggest, recommend, watch video and even discuss the books on Penguin's social network pages.
Other notable feature of the Penguin mobile app are “Just Published”, “BestSellers” and “Coming Soon”. One of the most talked about features is the “What's Making News” section where users can catch up with the latest gossip, discussion and events related to the publishing industry. In addition, the app also allows users to read exclusive excerpts from all of Penguin's forthcoming books.
"It is multi-faceted and the first service of its kind to be offered by a publisher in the country. It brings every aspect of reading and publishing on to a single digital platform," reports quote Hemali Sodhi, vice-president, marketing, Penguin India as saying.
"As our society grows more mobile, readers are clamouring for information to be delivered to them in new and creative ways," says Penguin India CEO and president Andrew Phillips. "This is only the beginning of our long-term strategy to provide readers with all the information on their favourite books and authors in exciting new formats, wherever they are and whenever they want it."
