Some Update:

So the Panaji Smart City has tied up with RJIL (Jio), to implement Free Public WiFi systems across the Panaji City at various locations. Its already live since last year i guess so and implementation was done in a phased manner across the city. Some 95-100 locations, that covers the entire city.

I do now know as of now what type of technology is being used for this service if its fiber based or wireless or anything else.

Its an OTP based service to login. One needs to use their email ID and Phone number for authentication.

I am yet to try out this service and will do a speed test soon. The system plans to have accessable WiFi system as its prevlaint in cities like Dubai and Singapore.

However there is no sign of Jio Fiber being introduced for the common public. AirFiber is already available here.

Do you have any source/reference which claims the public wifi service is provided by RJIL (Jio)?

I Googled and found one article by TOI but it doesn't state which ISP is providing the public wifi.

This news is of other 75 locations of Goa, and not of Panaji Smart City. The Panaji Smart City has 95-100 locations being offered by RJIL.

This is the reply provided by minister of state for communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar informed the Lok Sabha in a written response.

This service is unrelated to Jio Fiber.

This is basically a government scheme to encourage wifi usage. Multiple other cities have Airtel as their public wifi service provider as per the given article.

I do not know what technology is being used, if its fiber based or 5G, etc. However, people have being using it for uninteruptted connection across the city.

Previously i have posted images of RJIL OFC cables being installed, may be 2018. I am not sure if its for the same or diferent purpose.
