Palmetto Rural Telephone Cooperative (PRTC), based in Walterboro in the US state of South Carolina, is to provide advanced IPTV services to its customers based on a delivery platform from Alcatel-Lucent and Microsoft's Mediaroom 2.0 middleware.
PRTC is deploying Alcatel-Lucent's "starter pack" end-to-end IPTV solution, created specifically for the regional service provider market, and will offer advanced features such as whole-home DVR, caller ID on the TV, and remote DVR.
As part of the deployment, Alcatel-Lucent is to integrate the Microsoft Mediaroom middleware on blade servers, deploy the 8950 Multimedia Integration Gateway to support complex billing and OSS requirements, and the 5905 range which delivers a Communications Gateway, remote DVR and applications dashboard functionality.
