Pakistan ended the first day of the second Test against West Indies in Abu Dhabi at a commanding 304/4 with skipper Misbah-ul-Haq still out there on 90*. Pakistan were in a spot of bother at the start losing the first two wickets for 42 before Asad Shafiq resurrected the innings with a patient 68. The star of the day was Younis Khan, who scored his 33rd Test hundred to put Pakistan firmly in the drivers seat. Shannon Gabriel was the pick of the bowlers taking 2/43.

Key stats from the first day of the second Pakistan West Indies Test from Abu Dhabi:

8 Tosses won by Misbah in nine Tests in Abu Dhabi. The only time he lost the toss was against South Africa in 2013. Pakistan, under Misbah, is yet to lose a Test in Abu Dhabi they have won four and drawn four out the eight they've played here.

4 Azhar Ali became the fourth player to get dismissed for a duck after scoring a triple hundred in the previous Test. The ones to do it before him are John Edrich in 1965, Bob Cowper in 1966 and Brian Lara in 1994.

75 Innings taken by Asad Shafiq to reach 3000 runs in Test cricket. He became the 18th player from Pakistan to reach the milestone and is the sixth fastest among them. The fastest is 67 innings by both Javed Miandad and Mohammad Yousuf.

4 This was the fourth instance of Pakistan's top three getting dismissed bowled in an innings. The previous instances were against Australia in Dhaka in 1959, against England at the Oval in 1967and against England in Abu Dhabi in 2012.

3 Misbah, when on 35, became the third player to aggregate 4000 runs in Tests after turning 35. The ones to do it before him are Graham Gooch (4563 runs) and Sachin Tendulkar (4139 runs). Meanwhile, Younis Khan when on 109, became the ninth player to score 3000-plus runs after turning 35.

1.10 Conversion rate from fifties to hundreds for Younis Khan. He has converted 33 of his 63 fifty-plus scores to hundreds. Among those with a minimum of ten hundreds, only Don Bradman (2.23) and George Headley (2.00) possess a better rate.

30 Younis Khan has scored a hundred the last 31 times he got to 90. The last time he got dismissed in the nineties was in Auckland in 2001 when he scored 91 in the first innings. He scored 149* in the second innings of that Testand has converted all his nineties to hundreds since. The next best for any player in 29 by Don Bradman, who incidentally was never dismissed in the nineties.

3156 Partnership runs put together by Younis Khan and Misbah in 49 innings together the most by any pair for Pakistan in Test cricket. They went past the tally of 3137 runs in 42 stands by Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan.
