Just over two years ago OnePlus proved that a budget flagship device is possible when it launched its OnePlus One. Since then, the company has launched two more flagships – the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus 3. A new report from Weibo suggests that the fourth iteration to the company’s flagship – OnePlus 4 – will be launching in 2017 running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 SoC. The phone is expected to be produced using the 10nm process by
Samsung.
The speculations regarding the OnePlus 4 suggest that the Snapdragon 830 SoC on the device will be clocked at 3GHz, which will be coupled with an Adreno 620 GPU. The phone is expected to be running Android Nougat out of the box and be backed by a 4000 mAh battery (a 25 per cent increase from the OnePlus 3).
OnePlus has said in the past that it will be focusing on launching one flagship a year, and the company is reportedly working on a re-iteration of the OnePlus 3 – dubbed as the OnePlus 3T. The new phone is expected to be running on an upgraded SoC – the Snapdragon 821. OnePlus 3T is also expected to be running Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box, with an expected price higher than the original OnePlus 3.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 830 is still under testing and is expected to be clocked at 3.6GHz. Snapdragon 830 could have an octa-core (Kryo cores) setup and is rumoured to support upto 8GB of RAM, and a display resolution of 4K. The chipset is also expected to be one of the SoC’s that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be launched with – the other being Samsung’s own Exynos 8895.
