Jordan has informed Israel of a pipeline leak in the Red Sea that has reportedly dumped 200 tonnes of crude oil near the port of Eilat, an Israeli foreign ministry spokesman said late Tuesday.
"Israel has been informed of this leak and remains in contact with the Jordanians while standing ready to provide assistance in equipment and personnel," the spokesman said.
The Jordanians are dealing with the matter, he added, while citing media reports that found the crude had already leaked out from the pipeline off the Jordanian port of Aqaba into the Red Sea near the Israeli port of Eilat.
