If you are a high SMS user, time to rethink your communicating way as mobile operators will scrap Unlimited (upto 500 sms/day) SMS packs and introduce maximum 100 SMS/day to meet the TRAI’s regulation from 27th September 2011.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) finally today announced 27th September 2011 as the date of implementation for Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference (Sixth Amendment) Regulations, 2011. to stop the menace of telemarketing SMSes.

India’s Telecom regulator said that “Every Access Provider (Telecom/Mobile Operators) shall withdraw before the 26th September, 2011 all telecom resources allocated to a telemarketer except those telecom resources which have been allocated in accordance with the provisions of the regulations.”

TRAI’s new regulation also notifies that all SMS packs that allow more than 100 SMS’ per day will not be available for renewal from the date of notification.

It is expected all operators who are currently offering more than 100SMS/day packs will withdraw such packs, and bring new packs of maximum 100SMS/day or 3000SMS/month pack.
