NEW DELHI: Few days back there were reports
that Samsung Galaxy S7 , S7 edge may directly
jump to Android 7.1.1 Nougat and skip the v7.0.
Now Vodafone Australia representative has
revealed that only some Galaxy S7 devices will
directly get v7.1.1, while others will just get
Android 7.0. The rollout of different OS versions
is said to vary as per different geographic
regions.
. . "I've checked in with the right people for you
@chri5tin3 and @shauno100, and they've
confirmed the references to Samsung skipping 7.0
refer to other markets and not to Australia.
We're definitely testing 7.0 for both devices,"
said Vodafone Australia representative in the
company forum site.
Here it means that in Australia both Galaxy S7
and the Galaxy S7 Edge will get Android v7.0
Nougat and won't directly skip to v7.1.1. This
news might upset some users in Australia as the
v7.0 doesn't have some bug fixes that come with
v7.1.1. Samsung is yet to give an official word on
the matter.
. Few days back, a user who seems to be one of the
beta testers of the programme, posted a
screenshot that confirmed the v7.1.1 OS update.
"We are pleased to announce that we will support
Android 7.1.1 from the official N OS release,"
said the note on the Samsung Beta Community.
. . To participate in the Samsung Android 7.0 Nougat
programme, users have to install the Galaxy Beta
programme app from the Galaxy app store. Once
downloaded, users can test the major updates and
provide feedback about the OS' performance on
their device.
. . Unfortunately, those using the limited edition
'Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games' or Galaxy S7
edge Injustice Edition won't be able to become a
part of the programme.
. . At the time of the announcement, Samsung said,
"Throughout the Galaxy Beta Programme period,
users can get a feel for Android 7.0 Nougat with
Samsung's latest UX, and can provide feedback on
performance, reliability and usability. Users'
responses will in turn help Samsung develop
reliable, high-performing software and provide an
improved and optimized experience to all Galaxy
users."
