Nokia and Airtel have teamed up to offer free download of Android apps on the Nokia XL for six months. With this Airtel plan, Nokia XL user can avail of up to 500MB of free usage, allowing them to download their favourite apps from the Nokia store and 1Mobile store.
The offer is made available for users with the Fair Usage Policy of up to 500 MB per month. In May, Nokia launched the XL in the Indian market. It is among the trio of Android-based devices – Nokia X, X+ and XL – from Nokia.
The Nokia XL sports a 5-inch display with 480 x 800 pixels of resolution, and is powered by a dual-core Snapdragon processor that clocks at 1GHz. It comes equipped with a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for Skype calls and selfies. Its 4GB onboard storage can be expanded further up to 32GB via microSD card slot.
The connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS with A-GPS. It runs Android, but the login and app data is said to be tied to Microsoft’s cloud services, and not Google as in any other Android phone. The phones run a version of Android Open Source Project, with access to side-loading of apps, third-party app stores and Nokia’s own store. You will find Microsoft essentials instead of Google services.
