According to Nokia Conversations, the official Nokia blog, Series 40 devices will be getting an upgrade for their Ovi Browser. They claim that the
Ovi Browser Beta will bring a "faster, richer and
more enjoyable way of searching for content on
the Web, right from your mobile phone ." For starters, the browser is receiving a visual
overhaul with a brighter color scheme. The start
page will also be customized with popular links
based on your location. Among these preloaded
bookmarks are Twitter, Orkut, IMDB, Yahoo!,
Photobucket and Amazon.
The new version of Ovi Browser will support 85 different languages, and has added specific start pages for India, Indonesia, Russia, and China.
As was the case with the previous Ovi Browser, Series 40 devices will still have access to the proxy server, which pre-processes your popular websites in order to minimize data demands by up to 90%. Nokia reiterated their February 11th announcements, saying that "Further extensions to the capabilities of Series 40 devices are a key part of Nokia's strategy...as it moves to provide mobile devices for the 'next billion' users."
