Nokia’s massive restructuring process may save it a billion bucks, but the 7,000 lay-offs that are going to affect its global workforce makes for a worrying picture. As we reported last week, the lay-offs are going to affect Nokia employees mostly from Britain, Finland and Denmark.

However, latest reports have revealed that over 300 Nokia employees in India too would be jobless by the end of 2012. Details reveal that all the 300 listed employees belong to the R&D department of the Finnish company’s Indian office. Nokia has got into a strategic collaboration with Accenture, owing to which all Symbian software activities will be looked after by it.

Nokia states that for the time-being all the employees that are being moved over to Accenture will initially work on Symbian software activities. However, Nokia assures that this will just be a temporary phase, since over the course of the whole change Nokia will look for ways to retain and redeploy its employees.
