Child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi and
Pakistan's Malala Yousafzai are the joint
winners of the Nobel Peace Prize for 2014.
Satyarthi, 60, runs Bachpan Bachao Andolan,
an organization on child rights that has freed
over 80,000 children from various forms of
servitude and helped in successful re-
integration, rehabilitation and education.
Malala stared death in the face when Taliban
gunmen shot her in the head in 2012, but she
survived and became a symbol of triumph over
adversity. The famous advocate for girls'
education continues to fight for their right to
go to school, putting her at odds with the
Islamist militants.
