Australia registered a thrilling three-wicket win over India in the Women's Quadrangular ODI match on Saturday at the Queen's Park, Chesterfield.

After opting to bat first, India posted 215 in 49.4 overs, but Australia overhauled the target to end at 216 for 7 in its 50 overs.

Earlier India was well served by Poonam Raut (60: 106b,5x4) and Mithali Raj (49: 61b, 7x4). The duo ensured that India recovered from 28 for 2.

Later Harmanpreet Kaur scored a brisk 31 to help propel the India score to 215.

For Australia, Clea Smith (2-32), Sarah Coyte (3-38), Lisa Sthalekar (2-35) and Shelley Nitschke (3-46) shared the wickets around.

In its chase, Nitschke (78: 100b, 8x4, 1x6) led the way for Australia, with useful contributions from Meg Lanning (23), Leah Poulton (34), Alex Blackwell (23).

Australia was comfortably placed at 152 for 2 but a middle-order collapse meant that the side slipped to 207 for 7. It required Coyte's aggressive unbeaten 17 to settle the issue for the Australia side.

For India, Jhulan Goswami (2-32), Gouher Sultana (2-30) and Ekta Bisht (2-32) ahred the wickets around.

Nitschke was named Player of the Match for her all-round performance.
