Google has started rolling out the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 smartphones in India. The update includes bug-fixes for severe battery drainage, Wi-Fi connection and Bluetooth issues.

The update for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 handsets comes with build number LRX22C. The OTA update for the Nexus 4 is approximately 16.7MB, while the Nexus 5 update is around 13.3MB. Users will need to install the factory images on to their devices. The user also needs to unlock their device bootloader first and flash the system with the available ROM.

Another option available is OTA update as many users might find the above option a bit technical and confusing. The OTA description states, “This software update will upgrade your Nexus 5/ Nexus 4 to Android 5.0.1, which improves performance and stability and fixes bugs. Downloading via Wi-Fi is recommended. Downloading over a mobile network or while roaming may cause additional changes.”

For checking out if your device has received the software update, you can got to: ‘Settings’ > ‘About Device’ > ‘System Update’. If it says ‘Your system is up to date’, then you will need to try after some time.

Earlier reports suggest that Google had released Android Lollipop factory images for Nexus 9, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2012 and 2013).
