5th ODI -- IND Vs NZ -- in Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Vizag , 1:30 PM IST

India v New Zealand 5th ODI

Did you know?
-India have won four and lost one out of their five ODIs in Vizag. The last four ODIs here ended with the team chasing winning.
-Martin Guptill needs 45 more runs to become the fifth New Zealand player to reach 5000 runs in ODIs. If he gets there in his next innings, he will be the fastest among the five (131).

-Tom Latham needs 10 more runs to become New Zealand's highest run-getter in a series in India. The current highest is 234 by Nathan Astle in 1999.

-Virat Kohli needs 37 more runs to go past Gautam Gambhir's tally of 329 runs as the highest run-getter in an India-New Zealand bilateral series.

-Kohli's three ODI innings in Vizag reads 118 vs Australia in 2010, 117 vs West Indies in 2011 and 99 vs West Indies in 2013.

India vs New Zealand: Fit-again Jasprit Bumrah bowls with vigour in practice

A fit-again pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who missed the last ODI in Ranchi, bowled with vigour as eight Indian players turned up for the optional practice session on the eve of the series-deciding fifth and final game against New Zealand in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.

The main focus at the Dr YSR ACA-VDCA Stadium practice arena was India skipper
Mahendra Singh Dhoni , who was seen taking tennis ball throwdowns, to get used to the bounce of the pitch.

After that Dhoni faced the conventional white ball and practised his trademark shots in a lengthy session at the nets.

The weather remained bright and sunny, clearing any apprehension of a downpour due to cyclone Kyant, which has subsided.

Head coach Anil Kumble engaged in a long one-on-one session with Kedar Jadhav, who has stunned many with his exploits, picking up six wickets from four matches.

The series poised at 2-2, India’s other top-order batsmen — Rohit Sharma , Ajinkya Rahane and
Virat Kohli — stayed away from the nets.

Included in place of Bumrah in the last One-day International, Dhawal Kulkarni bowled full and lacked control in Ranchi, conceding 8.42 runs per over for his 1/57 as New Zealand got off to a splendid start.

With Bumrah looking fit, he may be brought back into the playing XI on Saturday.

Team News:

India:Jasprit Bumrah partook in the optional net session without any apparent discomfort. He is expected to return to the side for Dhawal Kulkarni, who endured an expensive outing in Ranchi in his first game of the series. A lot of India's middle-order deficiencies have been accentuated by Rohit Sharma's loss of form at the top. Without Rohit batting deep through the innings, as he has done consistently in the last three years, the likes of Dhoni, Manish Pandey & Co. have been forced into lengthy periods of stabilization, which they haven't often been able to grind out of. Dhoni has maintained he'll bat at four but with a series at stake, it'll be interesting to see if he'll make an exception for this game should he be faced with another tricky run chase.

New Zealand:New Zealand are quite happy to chop and change as the pitch demands. Their best moments in this series have incidentally come on slow and turning surfaces. In Ranchi, Williamson unleashed three spinners on India, a strategy that might they might stick with if the surface plays as per recent trends. Otherwise, Anton Devcich could make for Corey Anderson, who'd dearly love some runs under his belt in his comeback series.

Weather Update: There was plenty of talk about cyclone Kyant spoiling the series decider. For now, the ground is baked in sun light. The forecast looks good for the rest of the day as well. Light spells of rain are expected later on, but that should not hamper the game.

Virender Sehwag handed over the India cap to Jayant Yadav. So, one change is confirmed, the all-rounder will make his debut.
