In a bid to penetrate the consumer and the SOHO segments, Negear has slashed the prices of its ReadyNAS Ultra and ReadyNas Ultra Plus, effective immediately.

The company also introduced enhancements to the family of storage systems. It has added two ReadyNAS remote mobile applications for the Apple iOS and the Android mobile devices.

"Consumer NAS with remote mobile client access will continue to be an important on-premise alternative to cloud services, catering to consumers who do not trust cloud services because of security issues or do not want to add another layer of management complexity. The ReadyNAS Ultra series is targeted toward the home and SOHO consumers and the prices has been reduced in the range of $150-250, depending upon the configuration, to enable a deeper penetration. These products will also be available through LFRs," said Atul Jain, Country Manager, India & SAARC, Netgear Technologies. "The market for NAS devices is expected to grow close to 40 percent in 2011 and we expect to grow at least by 50 percent over last year.”

For the promotion and market awareness, the company is currently concentrating on the metropolitan and tier-2 cities and will later on start focusing on the smaller towns for ReadyNAS business.

“We have launched a scheme applicable from June 1 to June 30, 2011, under which free software license of ReadyNAS Replicate will be provided with any ReadyNAS business product. We are coming up with several promotional schemes for channel partners and have already done partner training programs in February and May, 2011. We have also earmarked 5-6 percent of our targeted revenue for advertisement, marketing, reseller incentive schemes, and other promotional activities for ReadyNAS in coming quarters,” added Jain.

Netgear products are distributed by Ingram Micro and Rashi Peripherals.
