MUMBAI: Making its first acquisition of 2015, Neo Sports Broadcast has acquired the broadcast rights to Baku 2015 European Games.

The agreement will ensure the broadcast of Baku 2015 across the country on the Neo Sports and Neo Prime channels.

Daily news and highlights of Baku 2015 competitions will be shown during prime viewing times, and the games will be promoted through these channels and the network website.

The opening and closing ceremonies will also be telecast live. Baku 2015 is the first-ever multi-sport European Games taking place from 12 to 28 June 2015.

There will be 20 sports at the Baku event—16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Twelve of the sports will offer qualification opportunities for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Those sports include archery, athletics, boxing, cycling, judo, shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, triathlon, volleyball, and wrestling. Baku 2015 COO Simon Clegg said, “I am delighted to welcome Neo Sports as our latest broadcast partner, and look forward to them sharing the first European Games with India’s sport fans. India has the second-largest population in the world and is a major sporting nation.

As well as highlighting the broad appeal of Baku 2015, this deal takes the European Games brand and message further than ever.”
