They will ask you to take up the same number as a postpaid connection

But they didn't ask or told anything like that.They only told that come after 90days.

I'll advice you to tweet about same happened with one of my relatives Vi sim but later it gets reactivate in prepaid after getting store visit.
After 90 days, they'll ask to take postpaid connection with same number and run it atleast for 3 billing cycle before turning it into prepaid.
That is the reason they sent you back, although your number will be not available for other customer till 90 days.

Check with them if you take it as postpaid is it possible to get it now itself. You can use it as postpaid for 3-4 months and then get it converted it to prepaid. If you go to them after 90 days it is not guaranteed that you will get the number. If someone else chooses that number, it will be assigned to him/her.

90 but after 90 days it depends on company some may disconnect it immediately, Jio gives some more time to recharge after 90 days

As suggested by @coolwater0055 and @hike bro's i had again gone to that airtel store, met with another store person and discussed this issue but he is willing to help me out and sent an email to the backend with my document and he will inform me when he receive the mail from backend. if it activate's, the number will be provided as postpaid only.

As a follow up to my previous post airtel store guy has called me at 1pm and said my mobile number has been realised as postpaid mode, i took it as a postpiad as there is no option and i works fine.
Thanks to all the members who given suggestion about the mobile no. retrieval.
