MTS expands high speed data footprint in State

Systema Shyam TeleServices Limited’s (SSTL) telecom services brand MTS, on Monday, announced the launch of its high speed mobile broadband service, MBlaze in eight towns in Karnataka namely, Chitradurga, Hospet, Bidar, Dodaballapur, Chikmagalur, Bagalkot, Karwar and Sarjapur, extending the current MBlaze footprint to 35 towns in the State.

Briefing reporters, MTS India Chief Operating Officer (Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh circles) Suresh S Kumar said “this expansion is in line with our endeavour to make high speed mobile broadband services available to maximum number of customers in the shortest possible time,” adding that the company also plans to invest Rs 100 crore towards expansion of its business in Karnataka in full year 2011, following the present expansion.

Kumar stated that the plan is develope data services in the State by penetrating into even the lesser known towns, especially in the rural areas. Presently, MTS is providing high speed broadband services in over 80 cities across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, mentioned Kumar, who added that over 150 Indian cities including the top five metros are covered by it.The company has also tied up with Hewlett Packard, wherein, on the purchase of an HP laptop, customers can get an MBlaze device for Rs 699. Additionally, customers can also avail data usage of 3GB at Rs 444 per month for a lifetime.
