Motorola’s Moto G has been a popular handset among budget conscious consumers. While the company is yet to officially announce a new variant of the flagship device, the rumour mill has started spilling out the details about a possible third-gen model.
Leaked images and specs of the prototype on Google+ by users Neo Lee and Leonardo Fiaschi hint to the purported 3rd gen Moto G taking on some elements of its predecessor along with some improvements in the camera, processor, and battery.
A report on Engadget notes that while the current 2nd gen model packs a lower 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera, the rumoured 3rd gen Moto G is said to include a 13 megapixel rear shooter combined with a 5 megapixel front-facing camera.
The device is said to keep the 5-inch 720p display, 1GB RAM, and 8GB of internal storage akin to the current model, but it is said to run on a Snapdragon 401 processor and draw its power from a 2,300mAh battery.
Earlier leaks in the form of a Flipkart listing indicated that the 3rd generation model will come in White with 8GB internal storage, while further speculations hinted to a 1.7 GHz qualcomm Snapdragon chipset combined with 2GB RAM and 4G LTE capability.
If the company is indeed planning on a next Moto G, it could be expected to soon go public with the announcement and bring out the device in the months to follow. Till then, let us glee over an improved camera in the prototype.
