RE: Moto M
Moto M launched in India, prices start from Rs 15,999: Specifications, features
As expected , the Moto M has been launched today in India. The smartphone comes to our shores just over a month after its launch in China. Prices for the Moto M start from Rs 15,999 for the 32GB variant, and it will go on sale via Flipkart at 11:59PM IST on December 14. Buyers will also be entitled to a host of launch day offers, including a flat Rs 1,000 discount for Citibank credit card holders, an additional Rs 2,000 discount on exchange of an old mobile phone, and EMIs starting from as low as Rs 776 per month. Moto M buyers will also get Rs 1,000 off on the Moto Pulse 2 headset, which will then be available for Rs 499.
The Moto M is a completely new smartphone, and bears little resemblance to Motorola ‘s existing Moto G and Moto Z series. While it flaunts a metal unibody design, the rounded corners and narrow edges help the smartphone standout in the company’s portfolio. The device also comes with P2i’s nano coating, which makes it resistant to splashes and light rain. You also can’t help but notice a few elements that have been clearly inspired by Lenovo. For one, the fingerprint sensor is now placed at the back, instead of being embedded in the physical home button up front. Like most Lenovo smartphones these days, the Moto M too is aimed at the audiophiles with support for Dolby ATMOS.
Moto M specifications
The Moto M sports a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass and 401ppi. Under the hood is a 2.2GHz MediaTek Helio P15 64-bit octa-core processor paired with Mali T860MP2 GPU, and 3GB/4GB LPDDR3 RAM. There is also 32GB and 64GB storage options, which can be further expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card.
For photography, the Moto M is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, and Phase Detection Auto-focus (PDAF) support. For selfies, there is an 8-megapixel camera up front with a built-in Beauty mode. Making sure everything ticks is a 3,050mAh battery underneath with support for fast charging.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz+5GHz), Bluetooth 4.1, 3.5mm audio jack, USB OTG, and USB Type-C port. On the software front, the smartphone surprisingly runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The company has however promised that Android Nougat will soon be rolled out for the smartphone.
Moto M price
The Moto M will be going on sale in India, with prices starting from Rs 15,999 for the 32GB variant. At the time of filing this story, Motorola hasn’t announced the pricing of the 64GB variant. In this price segment, it will face competition from the likes of the Lenovo Z2 Plus , and the LeEco Le Max2 to name a few. The Lenovo Z2 Plus, priced at Rs 17,999, is among the best smartphones in the sub-Rs 20,000 segment. It also happens to be among the most affordable Snapdragon 820-powered smartphones in India. The Le Max2 has recently received quite a few price drops, and it too is now available for Rs 17,999. At this price point, you get a device with Snapdragon 820 processor, 21-megapixel rear camera, and a QHD resolution display.
