Microsoft had unveiled the Xbox One S last month and now the company has
announced the launch date for its next generation Xbox.

The 2TB launch edition Xbox One S will be available in limited quantities in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UK and United States. It will come to other markets later this year.

Those who have pre-ordered the Xbox One S will arrive on August 2 while others can still pre-order a 2TB Xbox One S launch edition through
microsoftstore.com and select retailers.

The Xbox One S is 40 percent smaller than the original Xbox One and adds support for 4K / HDR video. It comes with a newly designed Xbox Wireless Controller and supports Bluetooth.

The 2TB launch edition Xbox One S will be available in limited quantities for $399 USD on August 2. Microsoft is also be offering the console with 1TB and 500GB hard drives for $349 USD and $299 USD, respectively.

Microsoft Xbox One S sale to kick start from August 2

The Xbox One S is set for an India release in April. Several retailers speaking to Gadgets 360 have confirmed that the company and its distributors have informed them of an impending launch. No exact date has been given to stores just yet, other than an April release window. Furthermore, a price has not been indicated either.

“We were told that the Xbox One S is due for an April release window by Microsoft and its distributor. Microsoft hasn’t shared pricing yet as they’re still gauging quantities to be brought in,” says a store manager to Gadgets 360.

A delayed launch should come as no surprise. The company was expected to take part in the Indian Game Show where Sony unveiled its launch plans for the PS4 Slim, PS VR, and PS4 Pro. That was dashed due to the Xbox One S not being prepped for India release, no surprise considering that the Xbox One hasn’t exactly sold as well as it should have, what with an online-only distribution strategy that just saw wider retail availability officially six months ago.

However, that hasn’t stopped the company from bringing the revamped Xbox One controller that was released alongside the Xbox One S. The reason for bringing in the controller first, is straightforward. Sources tell us that Microsoft India is keen to have it supplant the Xbox 360 controller that’s been a mainstay for PC gamers for almost a decade in India. It makes sense considering that Microsoft’s global strategy is to push games that follow Xbox Play Anywhere - which allows fans to play games on both the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.

For its part, Microsoft India isn’t saying anything just yet. We got in touch with the company and received the following response:
“We have nothing to share on our Xbox One S plans for India. Will keep you updated.”

When the Xbox Project Scorpio is just months away from launch, they are releasing Xbox One S in India.

This is utter non sense, Mr. Nadella.
