Micromax is riding high on the success of its canvas series and is all set to launch the third phone of the now flagship devices – Micromax Canvas A115 3D. Images and certain specifications of the phone were leaked by the popular Twitter handle @MMXNewscaster.

Micromax Canvas 2 was a huge success and following close on its heels was Micromax Canvas HD. The Canvas HD created a rage with the stellar specifications and low price. The phone was completely sold out just within 2 days of launch with a waiting period of 24 days! Also, the phone created history by increasing prices by Rs 1000/- on it’s relaunch.

Looks like Micromax is ready to carry forward the success of the canvas 2 and Canvas HD but now in a 3D format. The features of the 3D phone will no doubt be as good as the initial versions. The phone is expected to run the latest Android version, Android Jelly Bean. Under the hood will be a dual-core Mediatek processor. The internal memory is rumoured to be 4 GB with a powerful 1 GB RAM.

Considering the phone is a 3D phone, the most important aspect is the camera. The phone will come with a 8 MP rear end snapper and a 2 MP front camera for video-calling. The images also show a dual-flash and the phone will most probable come with dual LED flash (below). The phone or rather the phablet will come with the now-standard 5-inch display with complete 3D imaging and playback.

However, we’re guessing the phone will be unable to click 3D images and will support just 3D output as the pictures suggest just one camera at the back. Phone-makers have definitely dabbled with 3D phones in the past, the most noteworthy being HTC Evo 3D and LG Optimus 3D. However, the phones were not huge successes and quietly faded in the background.

Micromax has surely managed to capture a huge chunk of the Indian market share with their innovative pricing and strong features and specifications. The success of the initial versions sure say a lot but markets haven’t yet taken a liking to 3D phones, the quiet fading of HTC Evo 3D and LG Optimus 3D suggests.
