Former Man Utd player Paul Scholes has kept himself busy as a pundit in recent years but is heading to South Asia for a new indoor football tournament.
In one of the more bizarre transfer window stories, Manchester United great Paul Scholes has come out of retirement again to play in the Premier Futsal league in India.
Scholes will join former Barcelona and Portugal playmaker Deco in the new indoor football league, where Real Madrid great Luis Figo is president and India cricketer Virat Kohli the brand ambassador.
Premier Futsal's verified Facebook page confirmed the news on Thursday morning, welcoming the 41-year-old to the competition, which will also feature Futsal great Falcao.
Scholes, an 11-time Premier League champion, is one of United's greatest players and initially retired from professional football after the club's 19th title win in 2011.
However, Sir Alex Ferguson's failure to sign a replacement and decision to overlook the budding Paul Pogba led to Scholes' return to football in the January 2012 FA Cup tie at City.
Since retiring for good in May 2013, Scholes has become one of English football's most outspoken pundits and was a newspaper columnist for a season at the Independent. Along with his Class of '92 teammates - and Phil Neville - Scholes is a co-owner at non-league Salford City.
The former midfielder returned to United as a member of Ryan Giggs' coaching staff during his four-game caretaker stint in 2014 but Scholes was not retained by Louis van Gaal.
Scholes was offered the chance to manage Oldham last year but rejected it, claiming it was the 'right job at the wrong time'.
