Local passengers attempting to board the Dr Ambedkar Nagar-Prayagraj Express train to Prayagraj became agitated when the doors of the overcrowded train were not opened, leading them to throw stones at Harpalpur and Chhattarpur railway stations.

The incident occurred between 1 am and 1.30am. The train, heading to Prayagraj with a large crowd on the platform eager to attend the Mahakumbh, was already overcrowded.

Multiple casualties were feared after a "stampede-like" situation broke out at the Sangam on Wednesday (January 29, 2025) amid the ongoing Maha Kumbh, as a large number of pilgrims turned up for a holy bath on Mauni Amavasya, officials said.

Indians and freakin' crowd management. Why can't we learn from West? No matter how much the crowd. Stampede barely happens there.

Crowd management happens both ways. People needs to first understand it themselves. Authorities needs to hire people who are experts in handling crowds. I don't get the greed of the people of enjoying something while risking both their and other people's lives. Got caught in a crowd where I was literally choking. People saw but didn't bother to give me way to exit. I push so hard many people feel down. Only than they moved. Despite me requesting them several times to allow me to leave.
