Your Maggi is not safe yet! If you are one among the Maggi lover waiting eagerly for your bowl of hot-pipping noodles now that there is no ban, your Maggi still contains those evil lead content. The Maharashtra Food an Drug Administration (FDA) once again found lead content in excess in Nestle India’s Maggi noodles. These Maggi packets were among the fresh batches of the instant noodles that came out in market after FDA confirmed Maggi to be safe for consumption. (READ: Consumer court notice to Nestle on Rs.640-crore ‘Maggi’ suit)

According to a Times of India Report, “Out of 46 samples collected from across Maharashtra, four showed excess lead content. This lead content, expressed in ‘parts per million’ (or ppm) was in the range of 2.92 to 3.33. The permissible limit is 2.5 PPM.”

In a batch of 20 samples tested earlier by FDA had lead to the banning of the noodles  by the state government on June 3. Later which more states adopted the ban on Maggi. However after further tests proved that Maggi was only within permissible limits after which Bombay High Court revoked ban on the noodles.

Lead content cab cause serious health problems like impaired neurological development. Following the outrage among people for packed foods  FDA is now testing noodles from different companies. One of the FDA official was quoted saying, “We are checking several parameters besides lead and MSG, a test enhancer. The tests will take long.” Supreme Court has decided September 30 as next date of hearing for Maggi. Consumer Affairs Ministry decided to take Nestle nearly Rs 640 crores over the unsafe noodles.
