Madhya Pradesh government allots 10 acre land to Micromax

The Madhya Pradesh government has announced their decision to allot 10-acre land to smartphone manufacturer Micromax at Pithampur industrial area in neighbouring Dhar district, an official said. Micromax was allotted 16 acre of land at IT Park situated in Barwai, Bhopal in October 2015. however, now following a change in the company’s plan, the state government instead has decided to allot 10 acre land at Pithampur industrial area, some 40 km from, he said. Micromax has to deposit Rs 2.5 crore with the government for the purpose, said the official. The firm will get the concessions and sops from the government provided it start commercial production at Pithampur in three years, he added.

Chinese companies like Gionee and Xiaomi are making their handsets at Foxconn plant in Andhra Pradesh. Domestic companies such as Karbonn, Lava, Micromax , Intex, Jivi, iTel, and MTech too have set up their manufacturing plants in the country. As per industry sources, Chinese company LeEco will start mobile manufacturing unit on Tuesday. Prasad said that besides manufacturing electronics product in India, product designing is also important. He said that government has provided Rs 10,000 crore under Electronics Development Fund to support new entrepreneurs in the field of electronics.

That’s not it, Lenovo has also proposed to make an investment of Rs 2,000 crore towards setting up a smartphone manufacturing unit in Puducherry. Making the announcement in the State Assembly, the chief minister said, a delegation of Lenovo recently visited him and expressed interest to set up project worth Rs 2,000 crore to make smartphones in Puducherry. Narayanasamy also announced the government was in the process of finalizing a slew of concessions and subsidies to entrepreneurs setting up industries in the Union Territory.

Sony India has said it is serious about setting up its own manufacturing in India.The company has already started assembling TVs and media products in India with a local partner. Manufacturing of some products resumed in the country after almost a decade.
