If you want a new notebook that’s going to power through almost everything you throw at it for years to come, look no further than Lenovo’s impressive new ThinkPads, which offer Intel’s latest Skylake processors, up to 64GB of RAM, USB-C ports, and optional 4K displays.
The ThinkPad P50 and P70 are designed to tackle pretty much everything you might need from a notebook on the go — other than high-end gaming — and they have specifications that could give most desktop workstations a good run for their money.
In addition to Xeon processors that are based on Intel’s latest Skylake architecture, the P50 and P70 offer up to 64GB of RAM, up to 1TB solid-state drives, two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports, and — if you’re willing to pay even more — a super sharp 4K display.
“We’ve built features into these machines that were previously unachievable in a notebook, making them the most versatile and highest-performing mobile workstations ever,” said Victor Rios, vice president and general manager, Workstations, Lenovo.
“We’re focused on making sure users have the tools necessary to drive innovation. That is why we are expanding our portfolio and raising the standard of mobile workstation performance.”
The P70 has a 17-inch screen and can also be configured with a DVD drive, and its price tag starts at $1,999. The P50 has a 15.4-inch screen and starts at $1,599. Both machines come with either Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 7, or Ubuntu pre-installed, and they’ll be available in the fourth quarter of this year.
