Just over a month after launching the PHAB 2 Plus in India, Lenovo today launched the PHAB 2. The phablet with 6.4-inch display is priced at Rs 11,999, and it will go on sale from December 9 exclusively via Flipkart. The PHAB 2 was originally unveiled at the company’s Tech World Conference earlier this year.

When it comes to design, there is little differentiating the new PHAB 2 to the PHAB 2 Plus. Lenovo has instead made the changes under the hood. While the new smartphone retains the 6.4-inch display, it comes with a lower display resolution, processing power and the camera setup. Lenovo’s smartphones these days are big on their audio capabilities, and the PHAB 2 is no different. The phablet not only supports Dolby ATMOS, but also comes with support for Dolby audio capture 5.1. The company also says that with 360-degree noise cancellation, conference calls and voice recording are tailored for maximum clarity.

Lenovo PHAB 2 specifications

The Lenovo PHAB 2 flaunts a 6.4-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) IPS display with 227ppi, and is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT8735 quad-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. There is 32GB internal storage on offer, which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.

In the photography department, in place of the dual-camera setup seen on the PHAB 2 Plus, Lenovo has opted for a single rear camera setup on the PHAB 2. The new smartphone features a 13-megapixel snapper at the back with f/2.0 aperture, and Phase Detection Auto-focus (PDAF) support. One of the talking points of the camera is the ability to click photos with Augmented Reality effects. This functionality is pretty similar to what Sony has been offering on its Xperia smartphones. Up front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera with 85-degree wide-angle lens.

Courtesy of the big form factor, the PHAB 2 features a big 4,050mAh battery underneath.
Lenovo says that the battery is good enough to deliver 32 hours of talktime and up to 14 days on standby mode. Surprisingly, the smartphone misses out on a fingerprint scanner, which has become a norm in this segment. Connectivity options for the PHAB 2 include 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and 3.5mm audio jack. On the software front, the phablet runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0, and is preloaded with apps like McAfee Security, Netflix, and SwiftKey among others.
