Goodbye Motorola, Hello Moto! The first two phones under the "Lenovo Moto" have been unveiled and they are the successors to the Moto G (3rd gen). Yes, successors, plural.

Screens have grown larger and sharper - 5.5" 1080p - after staying at 5" 720p for the 2nd and 3rd generations. The processing power has doubled with a higher-end Snapdragon chipset, the camera and memory have been improved as well.

Lenovo Moto G4 Plus

Rather than "Turbo", this one is a "Plus" and in its high spec option, the Moto G4 Plus places in the upper echelons of the mid-range segment.

The 5.5" screen has 1080p resolution, a necessary bump in both size and resolution for the G4 to stay competitive. You don't even have to ask, of course, it runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Below the screen is the square fingerprint reader, which is unique to the Plus model - the regular G4 goes without one.

The Moto G4 Plus is a 16MP shooter with hybrid focus (Laser + phase detection) and it records 1080p video. The selfie cam has a 5MP sensor and a wide-angle lens.

The chipset went up to Qualcomm's 6-series - a Snapdragon 617 to be precise. It has eight Cortex-A53 cores at 1.5GHz and an Adreno 405 GPU. That's double the CPU cores of the Moto G (3rd gen) and a newer generation GPU.

The top model comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. There will be more affordable options with 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of storage. And there's a microSD slot, so even the 16GB models can have plenty of storage.

While both the Moto G4 and G4 Plus have 3,000mAh batteries and support fast charging, only the Moto G4 Plus has a Turbo Charger in the box. It can put 6 hours worth of juice in just 15 minutes.

Lenovo Moto G4

The Moto G4 brings many of the same improvements as the Plus mode. It has a 5.5" screen with 1080p resolution, Snapdragon 617 chipset and a 3,000mAh battery with fast charge support (it's a bring your own charger affair, though).

You get a choice of 16GB and 32GB built-in storage (expandable via microSD). The RAM is fixed at 2GB.

The camera on the Moto G4 is closer to the 3rd gen phone - 13MP with 1080p video capture. It gets the same 5MP wide-angle selfie cam as the Plus model, though.

The final difference between the G4 and its Plus sibling is the fingerprint reader - there isn't one here.

For the first time, the Motos will be exclusive to Amazon.in. Pricing starts at INR 13,500 ($200/€180) for the base 16GB Moto G4 Plus model and INR 15,000 ($225/€200) for the 32GB model.
