Soon after confirming launch details of the upcoming K6 Power smartphone, Lenovo on Friday announced that it will be available exclusively via Flipkart. As confirmed earlier, the Lenovo K6 Power smartphone will launch on Tuesday at an event held in New Delhi. The event kicks off at 2:30pm IST.

Commenting on the announcement, Sudhin Mathur, Executive Director, Lenovo MBG India said, "We are the number one online smartphone brand in India with 1 out of 4 shoppers choosing to buy a Lenovo or Moto smartphone, and Flipkart has partnered us well to achieve this success. We are glad to announce that we have exclusively partnered with Flipkart for the next launch in the popular K series, Lenovo K6 Power and hope to replicate our winning formula again."

To recall, Lenovo launched the K6 Power at the IFA 2016 trade show in Berlin alongside the K6, and K6 Note smartphones. Considering that Lenovo has been launching smartphones under Vibe and Moto range in the country, it is possible the handset will be officially dubbed Lenovo Vibe K6 Power when it comes to India. As the name suggests, the biggest highlight of the Lenovo K6 Power is its 4000mAh battery.
To recall, the Lenovo K6 Power was launched in Dark Grey, Gold, and Silver colours, and sports a metal unibody design. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and comes with an integrated fingerprint sensor while supporting a dual-SIM slot. It is powered by the 64-bit Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor (4 x 1.2GHz Cortex-A53 + 4 x 1.5GHz Cortex-A53) with Adreno 505 GPU for graphics. Other specifications of the Lenovo K6 Power include a 5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display. It comes in two RAM/storage bundles - 2GB RAM/ 16GB storage and 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage. There is also an option to expand storage further via microSD. The handset sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera as well. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS.

Lenovo K6 Power with 4,000mAh battery launched in India, priced at Rs 9,999

Lenovo is expanding its budget smartphone portfolio with the new K6 Power smartphone. Priced at Rs 9,999, the smartphone goes on open sale at 12PM on December 6 exclusively via Flipkart. The Lenovo K6 Power is part of the new K6 series that was unveiled at IFA earlier this year. The other two K6 series phones are the Lenovo K6 and Lenovo K6 Note. One of the highlights of the Lenovo K6 Power, as the name of the device indicates, is the large 4,000mAh battery.

With the large battery along with Snapdragon 430 processor onboard, the Lenovo K6 Power will face competition from the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi 3s and Redmi 3s Prime, with all of these budget smartphones armed with almost same battery size and same processor. Interestingly, prior to the K6 Power, Lenovo-owned Motorola launched the budget Moto E3 Power smartphone, which too focused on big battery life, and competed against the Xiaomi Redmi 3s and Redmi 3s Prime.

Lenovo claims the K6 Power’s battery is capable of delivering 96 hours of music playback, 13.6 hours of videos playback, 48 hours of voice calls, 12.6 hours of web surfing and 649 hours of standby time. The smartphone also comes with a power saving mode called Ultimate Powersaver which cuts off data and apps in background, but keeps core functions like calls and texts active, increases battery life three times. It also comes with reverse charge feature which can charge other phones through the K6 Power. Besides the big battery, the K6 Power also comes with a metal unibody design, fingerprint sensor and support dual-SIM card slots. The smartphone is available in dark grey, gold, and silver color variants. Additionally, the smartphone supports Lenovo’s TheatreMax technology. It also boasts two stereo speakers at the back, and like the recent Lenovo smartphones, the K6 Power also comes with Dolby ATMOS support.

Lenovo K6 Power specifications

The smartphone sports a 5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display with pixel density of 441ppi with 450-nit brightness, and 178-degree viewing angles. It runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based Vibe UI and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor paired with Adreno 505 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The smartphone comes with 32GB of onboard storage and a microSD card slot for additional storage.

For photography, the K6 Power is equipped with a 13-megapixel Sony IMX258 sensor camera with LED flash, Pro-mode, PDAF support, slow motion and time lapse. For selfies, it has an 8-megapixel Sony IMX219 camera with wide-angle lens and beautification mode and can shoot up to 1080p videos. The smartphone also comes with a new feature called App lock, which lets you lock apps like WhatsApp via fingerprint scanner. Connectivity options include dual-SIM support, 4G with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11n, USB OTG support, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. The smartphone supports dual app feature which will basically let you run dual WhatsApp accounts among other apps like hike or Google Play Store.

At this price point and given specifications, the Lenovo K6 Power will compete against the likes of Redmi 3s Prime and Coolpad Note 3 Plus
among other popular sub-Rs 10,000 Android smartphones.

Priced at Rs 8,999, the Redmi 3s Prime is one of the top-selling smartphones from the house of Xiaomi. The smartphone comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display, which is inferior to K6 Power’s full HD display in terms of resolution. The Redmi 3s Prime runs Android Marshmallow-based MIUI and is powered by Snapdragon 430 processor, the same chipset that powers the Lenovo K6 Power. For photography, the Redmi 3s Prime offers 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front camera. The Redmi 3s Prime has slightly larger battery at 4,100mAh. It also comes with fingerprint scanner.

There’s a cheaper variant of the Redmi 3s Prime comes with almost similar specifications but with only 16GB onboard storage and skips the fingerprint scanner. The Redmi 3s comes with a relatively lower price tag of Rs 7,999.

The Coolpad Note 3 Plus, priced at Rs 8,999, has a slightly bigger 5.5-inch full HD display. It runs older Android 5.1 Lollipop and is powered by a MediaTek octa-core processor. The smartphone comes with 13-megapixel rear camera and higher 8-megapixel front camera for selfies. It has relatively smaller battery at 3,000mAh. It also houses a fingerprint scanner.
