The government is presently reviewing the tenders of two Chinese government companies for the construction of the proposed US $ 108 million worth Peliyagoda tower, work of which will commence in two to three months time, the Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRC), Anusha Palpita told The Bottom Line.

“The Peliyagoda tower is currently in the tender stage with the Cabinet studying the terms and conditions offered by the Chinese bidders for this US $ 108m worth project,” the TRC Director General said.

He further elaborated that details such as the pricing, quality and conditions of the two main Chinese bidders, which had looked lucrative, were being studied by the Cabinet of ministers.

The Peliyagoda tower, the second such in the wake of the Kokavil multi-purpose transmission tower commissioned last week, will be completed in 30 months, according to Palpita who added that the highest priority was being given to getting work started quickly. (SO)
