Bump:
Had been to Ooty over weekend. It saddened me to see that the entire city is littered with garbage. It's such a beautiful place but such apathy from govt. and people would only make tourists think twice before visiting.
Might i add TN govt. should think of putting milestones on state highways leading to Ooty from Coimbatore in both English and Tamil instead of putting it in just Tamil. It would be of great help to non-natives if instead of looking at Google map all the time they can concentrate on driving on curvy roads. The same goes for buses too.Put the route in English and Tamil and it would be of great help to the tourists.

Ooty isn't what it used to be very crowded and commercialised.
There is this place called kothagiri(Jayalalitha's Tea estate bungalow) very close to Ooty which has this beautiful old world charm still intact. People who know about these or regular in traveling know about this and skip Ooty altogether.Another place is kodaikanal.Very little crowd and much cooler too. Next is Valparai it's towards south of Coimbatore towards Palakkad kerala. It's the most beautiful place around there.
Southern part of TN /Kerala have much more to offer.
Regarding highway signs.. Yep state highways should have English aswell..
