Journalist assault: 2 police officers suspended

New Delhi: After all the bad press generated, the Mayawati administration was forced to suspend Additional SP VP Ashok and CO Anup Kumar - the two men who ordered the roughing up of IBN 7 Journalist Shalabh Mani Tripathi. An FIR has also been registered against the two senior police officers. Under intense pressure and media scrutiny, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati held a high-level meeting on Monday to chalk out a strategy to deal with the Sachan case. Mayawati warned the Uttar Pradesh police of strict action if journalists are harassed.
