Joe Root dropped out of the top-three in the latest ICC Test rankings for batsmen, released on Monday (October 31). The England No. 3 batsman slipped down two positions to fifth after scores of 56 and 1 in the two innings of the second and final Test against Bangladesh, in which the hosts recorded a historic victory , by 108 runs, to draw the two-match series in Mirpur.

England Test captain Alastair Cook, meanwhile, jumped one place to 11th following scores of 14 and 59. Tamim Iqbal, the Bangladesh opener who notched up the only century in the game, rose four places to 20th. Mominul Haque now occupies the 26th spot after climbing one spot with scores of 66 and 1, and is followed by all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who also moved up one place.

Bangladesh's Mehedi Hasan, meanwhile, vaulted to 33rd position in the Test bowlers' rankings. The 19-year-old off spinner bagged 19 wickets in the two-Test series which earned the home side a 1-1 series draw in Mirpur.

Mehedi, who won the Player of the Tournament at the ICC U19 World Cup 2016, entered the rankings after returning figures of 7 for 138 on Test debut in Chittagong. His tally of 12 for 159 in the second game, helped him jump 28 positions. Incidentally, he is now Bangladesh's second highest-ranked Test bowler behind Shakib, who occupies the 15th spot in the list.

The England trio of Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali too rose up in the bowler's rankings. Stokes, the England all-rounder, jumped to his career-best 21st spot after match figures of 5 for 65. Woakes, who took 3 for 30 in the first innings, occupies the 18th spot in the list, while Moeen is now ranked 25th, after match figures of 6 for 117.

In the team rankings, Bangladesh earned eight points but are still ninth in the 10-member list. However, with 65 rankings points, they are two shy of eighth-ranked West Indies. Fourth-ranked England dropped to 105 points after conceding three in the loss.
