Gajapati, July 30 : A district level job counseling camp was held for the youth in Maoist-affected Orissa's Gajapati District.

The aim of the camp was to provide job opportunities to the youths of the area, who otherwise would join the Maoist camp.

Eight companies, mostly software and construction companies participated in the camp.
Additional Director of the project A. Uma Mahesh stated that the companies would provide training to the youths who are selected and subsequently their careers would receive the necessary boost.

"This is the conditional training that they will get. PSI (People's Services International) will give them the placement service at inside and outside. Basically they are giving outside. The rural BPL youths will get another Rs. 3000 to Rs. 5000 per month. Gradually after three to four months they will get additional pay for the skill they improve ranging from Rs. 6000 to Rs. 9000," he said.

Approximately, 1000 youths from the area registered themselves at the camp with an aim to get jobs.

The youth on their part expressed their happiness as they got an opportunity to earn their livelihood and their career got the right direction.

"We were all unemployed and roaming without any work in our village. Now we have this facility so we will train and work for the companies," said Anasima Gamango, a local.
